1499 Kimblewick Road - Potomac Woods - $569,000

Listed by Long and Foster

Google Map Here

Potomac Woods was built in the early 1960's. This cute brick split is on a nice corner lot at the intersection of Kimblewick Road and Chilham Place.

This home is pretty from the street. Someone has taken a lot of time working on the outside working with the plants and landscape. The care is obvious. The yard is not pretty because of a quick cleanup. The outside is tended by someone with passion for the earth. Gardeners...are you listening?

This is a small split. You walk in the foyer and you are already in the middle of the living room and steps from the dining room and kitchen. This is not unusual, it is actually typical of homes built in this era. The dining room has a door that used to go to the garage. This area has been finished into a bedroom and full bath. There is also a small greenhouse room (Gardeners?) that weather sensitive plants can live out the winter.

The kitchen is original...but the cabinets are freshly painted a light blue. Sounds horrific, but it actually works in this case. Although the space is dated..it will serve a family well until funds or motivation come available for a renovation.

The upstairs is original with 3 bedrooms and 2 small full baths. The tile of the era...yellow in one and blue in the other are in good condition.

The lower level has a mix of flooring. There is parquet, tile, laminate and more....take your pick. Although not matched, the flooring is laid properly and is ready for carpet or reflooring. A fireplace in this space will make for a cozy family room with a half bath just down the hall.

Although this home is neat and clean, it will need some updating. The price is a bit aggressive at $569,000 and will have to come down a bit to attract an offer. I see this one settling at $539,000.

1984 Lancashire Drive - Potomac Woods - $699,000

Listed By Long and Foster

Google Map Here

Potomac Woods is located just south of Wootton Parkway between Falls and Seven Locks Road. This home was built in 1968 and has been updated. This one is worth a look for those in the $700K price range.

This home is a brick colonial with a columned front elevation. The home seems to be nicely maintained with freshly trimmed landscaping and clean yard. The foyer area is narrow and floored with ceramic tile. You step down into a living room which is in good condition with vintage hardwood floors. The dining room is good sized and leads you into a newly renovated kitchen. The maple cabinets and granite tops nicely accent the space. The Family room is a nice size in the back corner of the first floor. There is also an office in the front corner of the house. Plenty of space in this 1968 era colonial.

The upstairs has 4 nice size bedrooms. The hall bath has updated faucets and is in good condition. The master bath has been upgraded. I only wish they did not leave the original vanity.

The basement is fully finished with lots of space. There are nice mouldings on the wall and the carpet is in great condition. This would be a great spot for a TV room. There is also an area way out to the back yard.

The yard in back has a large slate patio. Over the years the slate has heaved in many spots and will have to be replaced or repaired. There are large trees that can shade this spot in the summer. It would be worth the investment to repair or replace the patio, or add an appropriate deck.

This is a nicely upgraded home with a lovely floor plan. Much of the upgrading needed for a home of this age has been done. Potomac Woods is a lovely neighborhood and the home is well priced. When all is said and done, this home will probably settle at $665,000.

Eaglebrook Court - Potomac Woods East - $795,000

Potomac Woods is a lovely community tucked between Falls Road and Seven Locks Road and Wooten Parkway.

Built in 1978, this home was way ahead of its time. Cathedral Ceilings, open space and good flow make this home very attractive. With 4 BR and 2.5 Baths, this home has an additional BR and full bath in the finished basement. Total square footage is just over 3700 on three levels.

With new carpet, updated baths and recent paint; this home shows very well. It has great curb appeal and sits on a nice lot that is just under a half acre. A two level deck from the kitchen and family room give nice room for summer entertaining.

The only down side to this home is it's proximity to Seven Locks Road. The home backs to the main road and although fenced, the traffic can be distracting. A city dweller would not even notice the noise. Someone looking for a quiet lot with privacy will be disappointed.

The home is priced at the top of the market. Although it shows very well, it will not get top dollar because of its location. This is about $50K too high. Look for this one to settle around $739K.
